FOUNDERS & CO-DIRECTORS

Susan Zimet
Member of the Ulster County Legislature since 2003. Zimet was the Supervisor of the Town of New Paltz from 1996 to 2000. Before entering politics Susan had a career in advertising and television production. As V. P. Associate Media Director at Grey Advertising, Zimet had oversight of a staff of 28 and a budget of over $250 million for a variety of prestigious national accounts.

Karl Rodman
President, River Valley Tours, Inc., an educational travel organization escorting tourists on the Hudson River, the Rhine, the Volga, and the Yangtze. An educator, whose Doctoral study was in Soviet Education, Rodman has escorted American teachers to observe Soviet schools. He is the co-founder of the Hudson Valley Forum and is past Chair of the College Foundation, SUNY, New Paltz


EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Jacqueline Cook

Project Manager and Administrator in both operational and strategic planning for IBM. She has worked with Federal Government defense contracts, including the software development, testing and integration of the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI). Cooke has managed $200 million in spending with IBM. In serving on various community boards she has extensive experience in fund raising activities.

Victor Goodman

National Sales Manager for Aurora Communications, Poughkeepsie, NY, a major group of radio stations in the Hudson Valley.  Goodman has extensive marketing and media experience at top advertising agencies both nationally and internationally.

Bill McCarron

Vice President for Media and Sponsorships at Verizon, a Fortune 10 Corporation with revenues of $67 billion handling communications in 45 countries. McCarron runs a 30 person department that oversees media, merchandising, program placement, sponsorships and competitive analysis on Branding, residence and business market products as well as Broadband and e-business services.

James Ottaway, Jr.

Senior Vice President, Dow Jones, Inc. Ottaway has a long career in journalism and in business. He is currently Chairman of Ottaway Newspapers, a division of Dow Jones. He has a distinguished history of devotion to issues of freedom of the press, worldwide. He is founding director, Community Foundation of Orange County and is Vice Chairman of the Storm King Art Center.

Elisa Pritzker

International artist, consultant and independent art curator, she has exhibited in the United States, South America, Spain, Italy, Germany, Israel and Taiwan. Pritzker is listed in Who¹s Who of American Women and is President of the NY Society of Women Artists. Her lifetime work is available for study through a permanent file kept at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington DC and at the Museo del
Barrio in NYC.

HONORARY BOARD

Assemblywoman
Nancy Calhoun

Six-term Assemblywoman from the 94th Assembly District which contains Stewart Airport. She is Assistant Minority Whip and serves on the Assembly Environmental Conservation Committee , as well as others. Prior to her elction in 1990 Nancy Calhoun was supervisor of the Town of Blooming Grove. She is a member of the Hudson Valley Greenway
Council.

Congressman
Benjamin Gilman

Fifteen-term Congressman from the 20th Congressional District, which includes part of Stewart Airport. Congressman Gilman served for three two-year terms (1995-2001) as Chair of the House International Relations Committee, formerly known as the Foreign Affairs
Committee.

Congressman
Maurice Hinchey

Five-term Congressman from the 26th Congressional District which includes part of Stewart Airport. He has recently been named to the Board of Visitors at West Point. Hinchey, in Congress since 1992, is a member of the Appropriations Committee and is the author of the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area legislation.

Sue Kelly

Four-term Congresswoman from the 19th Congressional District. Most of Stewart Airport is within Kelly¹s Congressional district. Kelly serves in the Congress on the Small Business, Transportation and Infrastructure, and Financial Service committees.

William J. Larkin, Jr.

Six-term New York State Senator from the 39th NY Senatorial District. In his early career in the military he was stationed at Stewart Air Force Base and has intimate knowledge of the history of the S.A.G.E. building. He is one of the leaders in creating a Museum for the Purple Heart which will be located near Stewart Airport.

 

DIRECTORS

Steven Auerbach

President, Auerbach and Company, purchases national broadcasting advertising. Clients have included Philip Morris, Reebok, Nike, BMW, Master Card and others. Responsible for the idea behind the creation of the ESPY Award Show for outstanding sports figures now in its 10th year on ESPN.

Peter Bienstock

President, Friends of the Hudson Valley, a Pough-keepsie based nonprofit organization which promotes tourism to the region and assists communities with crafting ³smart growth² planning and zoning strategies. Bienstock is co-founder, with Karl Rodman, of the Hudson Valley Forum. He also helped found the Hudson River Valley Institute at Marist College.

Steven W. Cole

Regional Manager for External Affairs and Media Relations for the IBM Corporation in the Mid-Hudson Region. His responsibilities
include media relations, public affairs and regional economic development initiatives. Prior to his current assignment, Steve was the Program Manager for New York State Public Affairs within the Corporate Community Relations organization.
Yuri Karavan

Director of Acquisitions for Yahoo.com, London. Karavan studied finance in his native Moscow and at SUNY New Paltz. He has an MBA degree from The University of Chicago and is now an American citizen.

 

ADVISORY BOARD

Col. Robert Doughty

Chair of History Department, United States Military Academy at West Point. Col. Doughty has served as the Head of the History Department for the past sixteen years.

Dr. James M. Johnson

Associate Director, Hudson River Institute at Marist College. Johnson is retired from The Military Academy at West Point where he headed the Military History Department. He is currently developing tourism programs relating to Revolutionary War sites in the Hudson Valley for the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area.

Patricia Kenny

Recreation Director, Educator and Accounting Officer with twenty-seven years experience in program and facility development, teaching and financial operating functions. Kenny has extensive experience in developing the kind of educational programs that will bring school children into contact with the museum¹s offerings.

Col. Gary J. Tocchet

Associate Professor of History at The U. S. Military Academy at West Point. Col. Tocchet is currently teaching courses to cadets about Cold War America. He is also teaching a course on Society and Culture in America.
